Trailer
Grape harvest trailers, with a capacity of up to 120 hectolitres, are designed for transporting large quantities over long distances, particularly to cooperative wineries. They are larger and more suitable for road transport, but are heavier and less manoeuvrable than grape harvesters. They are unloaded using a progressive opening door and a tipping mechanism. They are fitted with a steel chassis and a coated or stainless steel body. Options such as a watertight lid, inerting system and hydraulic opening are available to optimise harvesting.
Advantages
- Larger volume to transport
- Suitable for long-distance road transport
- Suitable for "cooperative cellar" type reception with harvest conquests
Disadvantages
- Heavier
- Less manoeuvrable in the field
- Fewer options available than grape harvesters
These trailers can also be transported to the vat house by a tractor for trailers fitted with a drawbar, or by a 6x4 lorry. The latter are appreciated for their large capacity, their ease of depositing the harvest trailers at the harvest site before harvesting and for the long distances they can cover to the winery.
Component parts
The chassis
The chassis is the structure of the trailer to which the hitch, box, axle and tipping system are attached. For tipping trailers, the chassis is rectangular and made of steel. The box
The body is the structure of the harvest trailer itself. The inside of the body is made of epoxy resin-coated steel or stainless steel.Options
Watertight lid and inerting
A watertight lid is available (with a hydraulic opening system) to ensure watertightness during transport and to protect against oxidation of the harvest. A neutral gas inerting option is also available to further prevent the risk of oxidation.Rear door or tailgate
The rear door opens progressively according to the angle of inclination of the body and the desired pouring rate. This equipment is designed for vats fitted with a reception cone, and unloading takes just a few seconds, allowing a high throughput rate.
The door can be opened hydraulically or mechanically.
